Biography

Dr Patricia McKay is a native of Maryland. She attended the Uniformed Services University (USU), School of Medicine, graduating in 1993. This was followed by a General Surgery Internship and Orthopedic Surgery Residency at the National Naval Medical Center, Bethesda, MD. Dr. McKay subsequently completed a Hand Surgery Fellowship at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN and exclusively practices surgery of the Upper Extremity. During nearly 30 years of military service, Dr. McKay was assigned to the National Naval Medical Center, Walter Reed Army Medical Center, Walter Reed National Military Medical Center and Kimbrough Ambulatory Care Center. She deployed on the Hospital Ship USNS COMFORT and served overseas in Japan and Italy. She has held a number of positions including Chief of Hand Surgery, Orthopedic Residency Program Director, Interim Chair, Norman M Rich Department of Surgery and Assistant Dean for Clinical Sciences at the USU. She is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the American Orthopaedic Association. She is a member of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand, the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society and the Society of Military Orthopedic Surgeons. Dr. McKay is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons, and holds a Certificate of Added Qualifications in Surgery of the Hand. She is a devoted wife and mother.
