The Centers for Advanced Orthopaedics - Parkway Division in Hagerstown, Maryland, was established in 1996 by Dr. Ralph Salvagno and the late Dr. Tom Altizer, who retired from surgical practice in May 2017. In their previous practices, both doctors had extensive experience in total joint replacement surgery. They strongly desired to focus more fully on improving the quality of their patient’s lives through these procedures. We have expanded our board-certified physicians and services to offer our community specialists in General Orthopaedics, Sports Medicine, Joint Replacement Surgery, Hand and Upper Extremity, and more.
The highly trained, experienced physical and occupational therapy team offer state-of-the-art rehabilitation services with individualized courses of treatment that maximizes function and helps you heal quickly. Our collaborative approach to care helps patient’s see lasting improvements and maintain optimal function long after therapy is finished.
The Centers for Advanced Orthopaedics - Parkway Division has joined The Centers for Advanced Orthopaedics (CAO) to serve our patients better. As a member of The CAO, we can bring our community a higher standard of excellence in patient care by sharing best practices and collaborating with over 38 other orthopaedic offices across Maryland, Washington D.C., and Northern Virginia.
